About Andrew Maskin
Andrew Maskin · Founder
Founder · Licensed Therapist · New York City
Andrew began his clinical career as one of the first students trained by the Einstein College of Medicine's Division of Substance Abuse — an experience that shaped his understanding of how addiction, trauma, mental illness, and circumstance intersect in real people's lives.
He worked at an inpatient residential center in the South Bronx, treating individuals with severe co-occurring disorders, chronic homelessness, and complex health conditions. He then spent years at an intensive outpatient program in Manhattan, working with police officers, firefighters, lawyers, nurses, and young professionals — reinforcing what he had long suspected: that high functioning and high suffering are not mutually exclusive.
He was later recruited to a highly regarded private mental health facility on the Upper West Side, advancing to Senior Therapist and eventually Assistant Director of Admissions. He holds a Master of Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.
Today, Andrew runs a selective private practice in New York City. His clients stay — not because things are always easy, but because the work actually evolves with them.
Meet Robert McAlonan
Robert McAlonan · Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Licensed Clinical Social Worker · New York City
Robert works with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, substance use concerns, relationship challenges, and questions of identity, purpose, and direction. His style is warm, collaborative, and direct — he creates a space where people feel genuinely understood.
What sets Robert apart is the breadth of his experience across the behavioral health system. He has held leadership roles overseeing outpatient clinics, school-based mental health programs, and mobile crisis services, and has worked on the managed care side of healthcare, leading behavioral health strategy across diverse populations.
Robert and Andrew first met and worked together at the Einstein College of Medicine early in both of their careers. That shared foundation — clinical rigor, genuine investment in people, and a philosophy of care over volume — is what brought them back together as collaborators.

We work with a selective caseload. Every client receives full attention, memory, and genuine investment — not a fraction of it.

01
Different people need different things — directness, containment, confrontation, or reflection. Often all of the above, at different moments. The approach adapts to the person, not the other way around.
02
Andrew intentionally maintains a limited caseload. Effective therapy requires presence, preparation, memory, and genuine investment. Maximizing volume compromises all of these things, and he doesn't believe in doing that.
03
Andrew is a lifelong musician and trained boxer. He integrates physical wellness, music, and creativity into therapeutic work in ways that are practical and specific to each client. Sessions adapt too. That might mean an office in Manhattan, a walk in Central Park, or a telehealth session from wherever you are. What matters is the quality of the engagement — not the room it happens in.
04
Many clients live visible, high-pressure, or professionally complex lives. Creating a space where someone can think freely and lower the armor they carry everywhere else is not incidental — it is the foundation everything else is built on.

Testimonials
When I started my work with Andrew, I had been suffering from depression and anxiety for most of my life — having seen countless therapists and tried several medical interventions, none of which made a lasting impact. After my first session, I was immediately struck by his unique approach: a deep empathy combined with a progressive, goal-oriented perspective that expertly balanced listening and validation with moving forward. Within the last year I am set to finally graduate from college and start an internship, none of which I could have imagined before. I credit most of this progress to Andrew's expertise and his steadfast refusal to give up on me even when I was ready to give up on myself.

"I came in during a crisis and stayed for the real work. That says everything."
— Client
"He doesn't let you stay comfortable in patterns that aren't serving you. Direct in a way that feels supportive, not harsh."
— Client
"Most people come to therapy in a moment of crisis. But in my experience, the deepest and most lasting work often begins after the crisis settles — when there's finally enough space to ask harder questions."
